Milk teeth, while temporary, serve a vital function in a child’s development. They are essential for proper nutrition, speech development, and, most importantly, they hold the space for permanent teeth to erupt correctly. Losing a milk tooth early due to decay can lead to severe crowding and orthodontic issues in the future, which is why we focus heavily on their preservation.

Preventive care is the cornerstone of pedodontics. We offer fissure sealants, which are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back molars to prevent cavities before they start. Regular fluoride applications also help to harden the developing tooth enamel, making it more resistant to the acid attacks caused by sugar and bacteria.

We also monitor the growth and development of the jaw to identify potential issues early. By detecting skeletal or dental irregularities at a young age, we can often utilize simple “Phase 1” orthodontic appliances to guide growth. This proactive approach can reduce the complexity of future orthodontic treatments or even eliminate the need for them altogether.
