Precision planning
3D scans map your teeth to the millimetre, so nothing is left to guesswork.
Digital Smile Design (DSD) plans the shape, size, colour and position of your teeth in 3D, in harmony with your face, so you approve the result before any tooth is touched.
Digital Smile Design is a planning method in which the position, contact, shape and colour of the teeth on your smile line are designed in 3D. You take part in the design with your dentist: your expectations and preferences become part of the plan.
We start with an intraoral 3D scan and facial photographs. Instead of traditional impression trays, a camera captures your teeth in minutes, without triggering the gag reflex and with very little measurement error.
The design is matched to your lips, midline and jawline. We can show it to you on screen, turn it into a model, or try it in your mouth as a temporary mock-up, so you can see and feel your new smile before treatment.
The same digital file then guides the making of your veneers or crowns. Because the treatment is mapped out in advance, procedures are more predictable and often more conservative.

Proportions, length and shade are chosen to suit your face and personality.
Preview your result on screen or as a mock-up and help shape the final design.

Yes. You see a 3D design on screen, and in many cases you can try a temporary mock-up in your mouth to see how the new smile looks and feels.
Scans and photographs are usually taken in a single appointment. The total time depends on the treatment that follows, such as veneers or crowns, which are completed in one trip.
No. The planning phase uses cameras and an intraoral scanner only: no impression trays and no needles.
